The standard case of the HMI on the machine, small to large. Of course, this application is not limited to operating and monitoring at the machine but includes many other functions as well. However, the application is limited to a single PC.
The typical target system is the touch-operated panel PC mounted on a swing arm or on the operator station of the machine, the control cabinet PC or even the standard office PC somewhere in the facility. Communication with the PLC is usually via Ethernet. VisiWin shares the IPC with the real-time capable control application as a compact unit with a PC-based control system.
One server and multiple clients. This architecture is the right solution for large machines with several operation stations as well as facilities. The application combines HMI and SCADA features.
A client-server application may include primary and secondary operator stations, production data display on large monitors, support and maintenance information via mobile clients and much more. The clients can differ in function, contents, layout and platforms but they share the same server and its data pool with all included functions.
In VisiWin, a client is not limited to a single server but can communicate with multiple servers at the same time.
