20 Years of .NET: VisiWin Joins in Early!

On January 5, 2002, Microsoft published the first version of the .NET Framework. The framework standardized and modernized the methodology of application development for the Microsoft operating system and has been an integral part of Microsoft Windows since Vista. Today, it represents a standard technology for application development under Windows.

INOSOFT has been using .NET since the very beginning. VisiWinNET (published in 2003) was the first HMI and SCADA software to use the new framework.

The Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), which was introduced in 2006, allows to create modern and completely customizable user interfaces with gesture control and is the basis of the VisiWin 7 Modern UI (VisiWin 7 also includes Web UI, which is based on HTML).

Since .NET 5 (2020), .NET has been further developed as a platform-independent framework and open-source software; Linux and MacOS are now supported in addition to Windows. INOSOFT follows this path and with VisiWin 7 version 2021-2 now provides the platform-independent server based on .NET 5 for Windows and Linux. Machine manufacturers benefit from the increased flexibility when choosing their hardware, thus becoming more independent from individual suppliers. By combining various containers from different software vendors on one piece of hardware, they can create customized, tailor-made solutions.

An end of .NET is not in sight! You can look forward to many new and exciting features that Microsoft and INOSOFT are going to provide based on .NET!
